Palace of the Raïs
The Palace of the Raïs (in Arabic: قصر الرياس) also called Bastion 23 is a set of three palaces (numbered 17, 18 and 23), as well as six fishermen's houses (numbered 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15), all dating from the Ottoman era (built between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries).
The Palace of the Raïs is one of the most important historical monuments of the city of Algiers. It represents, moreover, one of the last witnesses who physically attest to the extension of the Kasbah of Algiers towards the sea until the nineteenth century.
