The Spanish Gate
After the invasion of Oran by Spain in 1509, the Spaniards knowing that the city was coveted, decided to build walls surrounding the city and interspersed with gates. This is how the Ximenes Gate was built in 1589 by order of Captain General Don Pedro de Padilla.
